Carmen L. Rivera Medina, Ph.D.

Carmen L. Rivera Medina carried out doctoral studies at the UPR- Río Piedras Campus with a specialty in Clinical Psychology (2001). She holds a Master of Science in Health Systems Evaluative Research with a second concentration in Biostatistics from the Graduate School of Public Health, Medical Sciences Campus (1991). She has been in the research field since 1990 when she led a five-year project at the Center for Sociomedical Research and Evaluation. Subsequently, for 23 years, her research areas have been depression in adolescents and adults, as well as psychometrics and validation of psychological instruments. From 2009 to June 2017, she worked as a statistician / methodologist at the Institute of Psychological Research of the Faculty of Social Sciences at UPR-RP, providing guidance and support to researchers, graduate students, and undergraduates. For eight years she collaborated in the review of articles in peer-reviewed journals such as Sage, Interamerican Journal of Psychology, Revista Puertorriqueña de Psicología, Revista Electrónica Griot, Cultural Diversity and Ethnic Minority Psychology, and Family Process. In 2016 she did a post-doctorate in Bioneuroemoción at the Enric Corbera Institute in partnership with the Universidad Iberoamericana de Torreón in Mexico. Since August 2017, she is the director of the Research and Development team in Emotional Well-being of the Enric Corbera Institute in Barcelona and chairs KuMara Research Consulting dedicated to providing research consultancies. Since 2007, she offers graduate level statistics courses at the Graduate Psychology Department of the UPR-RP.
